Halloween at Dillon Beach

We just returned from our annual Nevada Day fiesta at Dillon Beach, California.
We had a soggy, but fun weekend celebrating Halloween by carving pumpkins and trick-or-treating at the local beachside trailer park community. We all had a blast on the one sunny day at the beach and playing in the sand dunes. It was a fun time but we'll be hoping for better weather next year!

Only a week

Wow! It's only been a week and I'm writing again! I'm now another year older, when is it legal to stop counting how old you are? I've been 25 for 8 years now, although I should change the year because I actually really liked my 30th year better. So I guess now I'm 30.

It was a great week, complete with a visit from my mom, a birthday celebration at Apple Hill,
and some time in the mountains with my boys.
I wonder what amazing things are in store for me this year. More fun I'm sure as I watch the boys grow up.

Autumn fun

Jackson is all excited about the Halloween idea. He thinks that he wants to be "spiderman, batman, astronaut, fireman". I think that he might end up with a really fascinating costume.
Cohen is still living in a life unaware of the joys of Halloween costumes, trick-or-treating (although I'm sure there will be some raiding of Jack's treats not only by me but by Co-man too)

One year later

Once a year, yeah, that's about right for me. What a horrible blogger I am. It's funny that I seem to be motivated to do new things in the fall. The boys are so much different than they were a year ago.
Jackson is now a boy--I know that he has always been one, but now in the sense that there is no more sign of baby or toddler. He's into firemen, superheroes, being tough (he even has what we call a "man voice" which he brings out when he's feeling especially tough or doing something especially manly), playing with friends, riding his bike, learning his letters and numbers, and anything that can keep him occupied. He's a really smart little boy--at least we think so.
Cohen is just plain crazy. He is 14 months old now and non-stop action. Last night we took him on a little trip to the ER for his first (of many I'm sure) set of stitches. They put 2 on his tiny finger. He just watched, cried briefly, then watched some more. What a tough guy. Immediately after he was pushing a car around making the obligatory car sounds that boys are prone to making. He is a smoocher though too, loves kisses and cuddling (as long as there's not something more exciting to do that is:)

Alex has officially reached the status of superhero in the eyes of the boys, for he is now a firefighter/paramedic for Carson City, Nevada. He loves his job and worked so hard to get there. Jack always says, when asked what he wants to be when he grows up, "I'm going to be a fireman like my dad" (in his "man voice" of course).
I am still working as a nurse in the critical care unit, which I enjoy. The best part is that I only work 3 days a week and get to be with my boys for the other 4. What a great life, what a great blessing!!!

So, I'm going to try to be better and write before October of 2009.

Welcome to our lives

Hi all. I decided to set up a blog--I'm so not the "techy" type but I thought it would be fun to have updates on our lives here in the dustbowl (aka reno). I know that the daily doings of my little boys are more interesting and fascinating to me than anyone else but since we don't live around any family or friends (well, some friends), I thought this would be a great way to stay up to date. So, at that, I hope you will enjoy!
