Catching up

It's been a while since I last updated, but I don't think anyone expects much else from me :) We had a busy summer, with a trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone and a move from Truckee back to Reno. This fall has been busy as well. Jackson started Kindergarten at a new school. He's doing really well and loves the new things he's learning. Cohen is 3 now and loves being a big boy. He also seems to be enjoying the little bit of extra time he gets to spend with mom and dad while Jack's in school.

We have been spending a fair amount of time at Lake Tahoe. One of Alex's friends from work took us sailing one day. We sailed out to the middle of the lake and took a swim. The boys loved it, especially Jackson. I think he added "sailor" to the things he wants to be when he grows up.

We had to keep our eye on Cohen, he just wanted to go swimming (he's our little fish).

I'll try to update later this fall!

Grandma

Hi Grandma,
My email address is berhughes@gmail.com

It's been a long time

I didn't realize anyone looked at my blog. But after talking to Grandma on Mother's Day, I realized that she has been looking at it and I haven't updated it for almost a year!!! Sorry Grandma, I'll be better now that I know. This year has been eventful. We moved from Reno to Truckee, Ca. and now will be moving back to Reno (taxes in California are way too high). We have loved our time in Truckee, it is truly paradise for us. We have had a great winter, both boys are getting to be great little skiers. Jackson is getting really good at his parallel turns. Cohen, well, watch out! Cohen just wants to go fast! Jackson is ready to graduate from Kindergarten in June. He's a really good reader and his favorite subject is math in school. Cohen is getting so big too. He's such a happy little guy and makes us smile all of the time. He's pretty proud of the fact that he's now wearing "big boy underpants" and shows them whenever he has the chance.

Yosemite

This was the boys and my mom's first trip to Yosemite, at least that Jackson can remember (he went for the first time officially when he was a few weeks old). They seemed to love it as much as I do. We did some hiking and the boys had their first experience rock climbing. Jackson said, "I love everything about this place". Cohen kept us all on our toes as he explored, always wanting to go to the edge it seemed. We had such a great time and I'm sure will have many more as the boys grow up. I'll post some pictures on my facebook page as well (it's easier to post lots of pics there).

Happy Easter!
What a great time we had in Utah with our family!

Jack had a blast this year decorating Easter eggs and finding his Easter basketCohen had fun too. His favorite part was the uninhibited eating of Easter candy before I caught on that he could open plastic Easter eggs.

Alex and I just returned from a trip to Sayulita, Mexico. And as this seems to be the most burning question people ask, I will answer it now. No, we did not contract swine flu. But we did have an amazing time.
It was awesome, just the two of us. We surfed a ton, explored the surrounding area, and perhaps best of all, slept whenever we wanted to. We returned well rested and happy to be back with our boys.

We left the kids in the very capable hands of Grammy and Ellie, as well as other family. They had the time of their lives and it was fun for them to spend some time with some of our family that we don't see nearly enough.
